Growing up in Rajasthan, a pivotal region for artisan India, I gravitated towards arts, crafts, and anything creative. At a young age, my Amma (“Ma” for short) taught me authentic Rajasthani cooking as well as other dishes from India’s diverse palate.
I also taught myself to draw with mehndi (Henna) firstly on myself, Amma, my sisters, and friends. Over the years, I added to my repertoire and turned it into a professional qualification as an Herbal Beauty Therapist.
In 1995, I relocated to Melbourne, Australia with my husband and young family where I started my Beauty Parlour becoming the first salon in Melbourne offering facial threading & henna workshops for women and men of all ages.
I have continued my passion for cooking, sharing the dishes I grew up loving with my friends and family. It now gives me immense joy to be able to share some of these recipes with you. My ‘DearMa’ recipes are dedicated to Amma and contain my most favourite family recipes.
